Brand Development






ZWELAMANZI TRADING is a 100% black female owned and managed company which provides Electrical services, specialising in Smart Metering, project and contract management. The company focuses on design, testing, support during commissioning and maintenance of electrical systems for power utilities with expertise in Smart Metering.

They approached us looking for a new logo redesign as they taking their business to the next level by aimimng for bigger growth by attracting big corporate clients in a field dominated by big industrial companies. The goal for us was  to build brand equity for the company. Brand equity is the set of assets linked to our brand’s name, and the symbols that add to the value of services.




Developing a brand strategy can be one of the most difficult steps in the branding plan process. It’s often the element that causes most businesses the biggest challenge, but it’s a vital step in creating the company identity. Brand development initiatives do not have to be multi-million investments, nor do they have to be on the grand scale that you would find with companies that advertise during the Super Bowl.

Brand traits and values list what the company wants its brand to stand for—its core values and beliefs. Brand Traits illustrate what you want your brand to stand for – your core values and beliefs. Think about brands you love. Those brands commonly stand for something (or against something) and connect with their customers emotionally.




KANAKA design studio designed a visual system for the electrical engineering  brand that capitalises on the strength of Zwelamanzi  core brand elements while stretching it with a new wordmark, typography, illustration style and iconography.

Using the brand idea of , KANAKA designed a modular system of graphic that blended the old logo into the new logo, that was not only professional and customer centric – two of the brand personality attributes defined for Zwelamanzi – but also assisted with product navigation and facilitated perceptions of Zwelamanzi’s services as reliable and considerate of its user.
