Destiny magazine has long been a trusted platform, celebrating South Africa’s most iconic business leaders. Building on this legacy, the brand sought to connect with a younger audience by launching Destiny Careers — a publication designed to inspire, enlighten, and empower millennials while redefining what a career and work-life balance could look like in a modern world.
The challenge was clear: how do you launch a new print magazine in an era dominated by digital content and still capture the imagination of young readers?
KANAKA’s solution was rooted in design and strategy. We knew that to resonate with millennials, Destiny Careers needed a bold new visual identity — one that spoke directly to their values and interests. Our “Depth in Feature” approach brought this to life, combining generous white space with rich, detailed storytelling. By leveraging Destiny’s established brand personality, we intentionally disrupted the ‘less is more’ design trend that had become standard in the category.
The result was a magazine that not only stood out visually but also stimulated readers’ attention, encouraging deeper engagement with each feature. Destiny Careers was met with enthusiasm from its target audience, affirming that even in a digital-first world, the power of thoughtful print design still resonates.
